Manager, Professional Education manages overall surgical professional education strategy for the surgical organization. Delegates tactical tasks and objectives based on the annual operating plan. Manages direct communication of professional education to the sales organization and other internal stakeholders. Develops and oversees clinical messaging and metrics for all educational programming. Ensures successful execution of education programs and manages event and creative agency vendors as needed to fulfill business plans. Manages training and development of supporting staff. Serves as the go-to contact for peer-to-peer professional education in the US.
Main areas of responsibilities:
- Align clinical messages through comprehensive internal consensus building process
- Ensure a clear understanding of clinical messages with top Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and their independent research and observations. Determine how to partner KOL's with brand messaging. Develop, manage and oversee strategic deployment of KOLs
- Develop and execute strategic professional education and professional communications platform in order to provide outlets for these non-branded messages via key education programs:
- at professional congresses by supporting strong, peer to peer education programs and symposiums
- in professional publications by supporting editorial relationships with all major trade publications, promotional supplements and strategic direction for peer-review publication strategy
- Assure that support of promotional education is within corporate compliance regulations
- Work cross functionally with R&D, Clinical, Legal, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, OEC, and Training on a continual basis across numerous initiatives.
- Oversee professional education team development
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required
- A minimum of 8 years work experience in medical device or pharmaceutical space is required
- A minimum of 2 years in ophthalmology, phacoemulsification and cataract laser experience preferred
- Direct supervisory/people management experience is highly preferred
- MS Office Suite experience required
- Ability to be innovative, proactive and work within a team environment
- Proven track record of working in a matrix environment where a high degree of collaboration is needed.
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required.
- Strong analytic and critical thinking skills and project management skills are required.
