Responsibilities/Principals (Essential Functions)
Lead the planning and implementation of communication programs to help employees understand and navigate the integration of Actelion as a Janssen Pharmaceutical Company of Johnson & Johnson (anticipated completion by end 2019)
Develop strong partnerships locally in support of the integration and serve as a trusted advisor to the President and leadership team of Actelion Japan and Korea
Partner with Human Resource (HR) Change Leads as well as Asia Pacific and Global C&PA colleagues to develop and implement communication programs that effectively engage employees on critical milestones related to the integration process and to ensure a consistent employee experience - for e.g. in introducing compensation and benefit frameworks, IT systems and talent development initiatives and opportunities
Implement mechanisms that enable us to listen to and respond to employee feedback throughout the integration
Lead programs that educate Actelion employees on Johnson & Johnson’s broader business and the company’s responsibilities as outlined in our Credo, and raise the profile of pulmonary hypertension and Actelion in the wider Enterprise
Represent the voice of Japan and Korea in shaping global change communications to ensure programs are culturally relevant and impactful
Deliver communication programs that meet business objectives and help maximize access to our innovative medicines (ongoing)
Develop and implement strategic communication programs, where possible harnessing resources from global Therapy Area Communications Leader, in support of key pulmonary hypertension product milestones, including new drug applications, approvals, launches and product lifecycle management

Responsibility includes the development and approval of all external therapeutic area communication materials in alignment with Janssen Asia Pacific C&PA policies; including for e.g. press releases, media statements, media backgrounders and fact sheets, presentations and executive speeches, spokesperson briefing documents, corporate brochure copy; and content for our web platforms and social media channels including executive blog posts
Maintain and build relationships with key reporters, social media influencers and patient advocates in support of therapeutic area priorities
Manage agencies and budgets as required/assigned
Enhance and protect the reputation of Actelion and the broader Johnson & Johnson enterprise to maintain and build internal and external stakeholder trust (ongoing)
Utilize knowledge and insights from internal and external networks, as well as understanding of the business, to implement strategic communication and public affairs plans that build, enhance, and reinforce the reputation of the company
Ensure reputation plans leverage the competitive advantage of a single-Enterprise set of strategic priorities and company Purpose
Proactively monitor and identify potential product, company and industry issues and develop issues-management strategies as required
Partner closely with Janssen Asia Pacific, regional C&PA team to manage product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation in Japan and Korea
Develop messages that eng
age, inform and align stakeholders and serve as spokesperson for media inquiries related to the Actelion business in Japan and Korea
Future Development of the Role
Please note: The integration work is anticipated to last 12-18 months, following which the job will transition into an Asia Pacific Communication & Public Affairs role, with regional responsibility for external therapeutic and organizational communications in addition to other responsibilities.
Education and Experiences:
Education and/or additional training: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in journalism, marketing, liberal arts, science or business.
Experience and functional competencies:
At least 8-10 years of experience in communication or related field, preferably in a healthcare company, NGO, government or public relations agency
Experience of delivering communication programs in support of organizational, change management initiatives
Strong English and Japanese language skills to a professional standard is essential
Ability to write and present clearly and persuasively in both English and Japanese
Demonstrated ability to develop compelling stories, with superior written, oral and visual communication skills
Experience dealing with national and local lay, professional/trade and social media
Demonstrated analytic ability
Deep understanding of digital and social platforms
Excellent judgment
Ability to maintain perspective and bring positive attitude and courage to partnership discussions
Professional maturity and ability to work effectively across levels, functions, regions and backgrounds
Ability to stay aligned with overall strategic direction while applying diligence and attention to detail in execution and reliably meeting deadlines
